That‘s life: You get the best ideas while you are coding. Since I do the coding primarily for myself - if the result is useful other as well and it feeds my cat: Great - I thought to myself, that myClippings should include a list of the recently used documents. After all you need your recently used docs as much as the content of the clipboard. I know, you could use the apple-menu. But that is very awkward to use and it lacks Quick Look, you can‘t search it etc.
And one thing leads to another and I engaged in a serious soul-search and reflected on what I was actually doing. I don‘t mean poking my finger in the nose , the trip to the coffee machine, smooching with Ollerum, sneaking to the refrigerator, staring out of the window ...
No, I mean what I am doing with the Mac. No matter whether you are coding, writing on a PhD thesis or a remarkable article that combines some interviews. You type, copy, replace, open a document, you search, you mistype. You delete everything. You start all over again. And again, you are searching a document, a paragraph, you take a trip to the coffee machine, sorry, you write some line of text, you search again for some text or code from yesterday and then every starts all over again...
All these activities have one thing in common. They are annoying and cost time. A lot of time. Did I mention that they are annoying? For these kinds of activities I have two or three applications. Why not building one to rule them all - one that is not an overcrowded all-in-one app with a handle to dump it.
You might ask, why the hell I am writing all this although the app isn‘t ready?

NO! This is of course no replacement at all for Aperture or any other app like that…
It is a very simple but thoughtful tool for organizing photos and images without a stupid database.
Nothing more - but nothing less!

So, there’s a snag to it?
Well - there is always one - isn’t it?
But it is a very small one.
All you have to do is to send me some ‘demo-snippets’ to win the iPod…

Remarkable snippets! Really remarkable snippets! Snippets can be everything, blind text, great scripts, some funny functions, complete webpages or just css-scrap, quatrains, limericks or poems; The main thing is that it is in English and not boring stuff…
So, you don’t know any remarkable snippets?
Don’t worry! You can also win! Just spread the word.
Write, blog, shout, tweet or whatever and send me the link, a picture or a statutory declaration that you’ve been walking loud shouting thru your downtown :-)
That’s it!
And yes, I know that this is a ‘cheap flimflam’ to get publicity - but hey: You can win ;-)
Small print:
· No- you don’t have to purchase anything to participate.
